O Monte Sinai (também conhecido como Monte Horeb ou Jebel Musa, que significa “Monte de Moisés” em árabe) está situado no sul da península do Sinai, no Egipto. Esta região é considerada sagrada por três religiões: cristianismo, judaísmo e islã.
É um pico de granito com uma altura de 2288 metros onde, segundo a Bíblia e a tradição judaica, Moisés teria recebido as Tábuas da Lei.
No pico do monte encontra-se a pequena Capela da Santíssima Trindade, construída em 1934 sobre as ruínas duma igreja do século XVI. No sopé do monte encontra-se o belíssimo Mosteiro de Santa Catarina. A estrada para subir vai contornando o monte e é bem larga. Normalmente leva-se quatro horas até chegar ao topo e a parte final é uma escadaria de 750 degraus. A vista no cume do Monte é belíssima e como geralmente a subida é realizada durante a madrugada, podemos ver o nascer do Sol logo depois de chegar ao topo. (Wikipedia)

At the peak of the hill is the small Chapel of the Holy Trinity, built in 1934 on the ruins of a sixteenth century church. At the foot of the hill lies the beautiful monastery of Santa Catarina. The road is twisting up the hill and is quite large. Normally it takes four hours to reach the top and the end is a staircase of 750 steps. The view from the summit of Mount as it is beautiful and as the climb is usually done overnight, we can see the sunrise just after reaching the top. (Wikipedia)
