Great players... but the prices being paid seem to border on the insane given the times. Here nicely lined up by order of their transfer costs:

#16, Álvaro Arbeloa -"just" €4 million
#10 Gonzalo Higuaín a "reasonable" €13 million (transfered last year)
#8 (turned towards camera) Kaká a substantial €70 million
#9 (facing right) Cristiano Ronaldo a hefty €80million

All in all Real Madrid supposedly spent about $360 million on transfers before the start of this season -- which does not include salaries, bonuses, etc for just the 8 new players.

Madoff was in the wrong business!
