Grizzly Giant

Yosemite National Park

This is the incredible life-force better known as the Grizzly Giant.
Estimated to be between 2500-3000 years old, it was an awe inspired
visit to see & feel this tree-mendous beauty... heavenly ~

Dunno how I forgot to post this sooner, but many thanx to Buz for our
discussion on it; Now he is posted here as he should've been before!

PS: In my first visit back in 1988, the fence was not up and one could stand inside the massive tree. The bark was 18 inches thick. It protects the trees from forest fires which, in turn, are necessary to open the seed cones on the ground for reproduction. Now, with fire control, new saplings have a hard time getting started.

I've been to see this beauty twice. (The Giant Sequoias were THE reason for my first visit to The Yosemite.) Waking through the Mariposa Grove is like walking through a temple. Beautiful and awe inspiring. Thanks for putting it up Colleen.
