Lake of the Crags

At the end of Hanging Canyon is a long, narrow lake called Lake of the Crags. It is one of my favorite places in the Tetons. Kathy and I hiked here in September 2003, and I recall it sticking in my mind as one of my favorite places. The prominent rock seen in the photo is called Rock of Ages, and was at one time the center of rock climbing in the Tetons. When Brad and I were there snow was still running off into the lake, the water being a crisp 30-some degrees. Without regard for the temperature we took a nice little swim. The water absolutely chilled you to your bones, it was one of the coldest lakes I have ever been in, possible second to only Glacier National Park. We spent the rest of the day napping around the lake and playing with our new friend (see next photo).

Where does one find the trail that leads to this place? Or do you follow the water run-off up to the lake?

Thanks for the photo. I haven't been up there since 1985. Looks like I remember it.
