An unexpected winter wonderland! Our 'extrapolation' of the weather certainly didn't include half a foot of snow! When we first woke up it wasn't too bad and we thought it would stop and we could be on our way. But it snowed for six more hours! After debating about whether to wait it out or hike out, we decided to hike out. Luckily, this coincided with the snow tapering off and finally stopping. We met several other groups further up the trail than us that were hiking out as well (one lady only had sandals! But she was able to borrow shoes from somebody).
