On the fourth day we hiked back to the valley floor on a trail that took us by Nevada and Vernal Falls. Part of the trail near Vernal Falls is called the "Mist Trail" because at peak flow, there is so much mist you get soaked (we had our rain gear). The roaring falls were pretty impressive. After returning to the valley, we drove through the northern section of the park (Tuolumne Meadows) and Inyo National Forest to get to Mammoth Lakes. We originally planned for a trip in Ansel Adams wilderness, but opted for Tuolumne Meadows instead because we didn't feel like dealing with the snow and the extra miles the closed road would have added.
