Adirondacks - E. Dix, S. Dix, Macomb

On Saturday, August 27, 2005 Kathy and I hiked to the summit of three trailess peaks in the Adirondacks. I wouldn't really call the peaks trailess, rather on minimally maintained trails called herd paths. The herd paths were generally very easy to follow, we did not have any navigational issues whatsoever. We summitted East Dix via the Great Slide which is accessed by a 5 mile woodland hike along the South Boquet River via Route 73 in the town of Keene. There were great swimming holes along the hike. The Great Slide was moderately inclined, and I am told is the easiest of all the Adirondack slide hikes.
