I go through Fennimore every now and again while I'm working, and I've seen this museum and thought it would make a fun trip for Eve and I on the bike so today we took the 326 mile round trip down there.
The Fennimore Railroad Historical Society Museum is located in the former city power house and utility building. The building has been remodeled inside and out to resemble a turn-of-the-century depot and there is a an operational 15 gauge railroad with 700 feet of track south of the railroad museum where you can ride Dinky for a dollar a pop.
On the way home we took a different route and swung through Mount Horeb, WI which is known as the Troll Capitol of the world. Unfortunately the bright sun made taking decent pictures along the Troll Way almost impossible, so we may do a trip down there some cloudy weekend and get lunch at The Grumpy Troll Brewery And Restaurant, and lots of photos of the life sized Trolls who live, work and play along the famous TrollWay.
