Wetaskiwin Water Tower

Wetaskiwin, Alberta

"It has been one big issue if this tower was to saved to taken down. It is one of the oldest working water towers in North America and one of great landmarks in the area. It was saved at a cost of 1,600,000 dollars. Quite a price to pay for history. In the end, it looks great but will it be worth the money spent. Lots of residence feel the money could have went to a better cause". It took about 9 months to complete. I took about 1200 photos of it progression, heres a few.

When I was a young girl in the early 1970s' I used to play at this water tower. It was so impressive then. I googled it today to show my 9 yr.old daughter how it looks and to tell her about it as her school project 40 years later. It almost makes me cry it is so remarkable. I am delighted that it was saved. Years ago Leon Strembitsky photographed it. It is a landmark for many of us.
