Ice Fishing

Battle Lake, Alberta

This could have been worse than it was. About 4 weeks ago this truck went through the ice at Battle Lake in Alberta. That week there was a heavy snow that put a lot of weight on the ice..Water flooded under the snow and form a weak spot that couldn't be seen. During the next four weeks they had to wait for colder weather and build a ice road near it. They pulled the truck about 300 feet under the ice to get closer to shore.. the truck was in 30 feet of water. It was finally pulled out an one heck of a cost... I talked to the owner and he said he was driving along and hit the soft spot and started to sink..He couldn't open the doors and lucky the power window open and escaped... He was a lucky man. What really bothered him was he was going to take his children fishing... In Alberta a few manage to go through the ice... Almost been there and done that..I have bad experiences in the past and lived to talk about it. As you get older you get smarter...

Every time I see Ice Fishing I think of that movie "Grumpy Old Men".
