Coffee Yard

Coffee Yard is one of the narrow medieval 'ginnels' or alleyways that wind through the centre of York.
This one leads to the restored Norman townhouse Barley Hall, which was once the home of the Priors of
Nostell and the Mayor of York.
The earliest York newspaper, the 'York Mercury', was first printed from premises in the Coffee Yard in the eighteenth century.

We went down a narrow lane like this to a little pub where we snacked on deep fried whitebait & chips after a long day touring. So pleased we had Chris's friend Sue to guide us :)
