The economy may be in a deep recession, and GM maybe retiring the Pontiac brand, but Nitemare Performance is here to ensure that your Pontiac Performance dreams live on. We will keep building Pontiac motors for as long as there are cars to put them in. To help the tradition of Pontiac performance endure Nitemare Performance will be giving away one of our famous street/strip pre-run and performance tuned crate engines, at the 'Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine' Pavilion at the 'All GM Nationals', Carlisle PA, June 26-28 2009. The engine will be given away on Saturday night, June 27th between the bikini contest and the burn out contest. There is no purchase necessary, but you must be present to win. Your admission to the 'All GM Nationals,' is your ticket for the drawing. The precise details of this motor have not yet been fully finalized, but it will be an awesome Pontiac pump gasoline street motor. Over the coming months we will detail the engine components, its build up and its eventual dynometer testing in this gallery. We hope you enjoy this endeavor as much as we will. We are opening this gallery with a photoshop embellished image (well we always liked those glowing diamond-shaped shockwaves in the exhaust of the Space Shuttle) of a similar motor we recently built for one of our customers. The Nitemare Performance 'give-away' engine is based on a Pontiac 400 block with a 0.040 over bore to give a total bore diameter of 4.160. This results in a torque monster motor with a total displacement of 462.12 ci or 7.573 liters. The engine has billet 4 bolt main caps. The rotating assembly consists of a forged Scat crank with a 4.250 stroke, 6.800 long forged rods, and Keith Black premium forged pistons. This engine features a Full Comp Valve train (cam to valve springs and everything in between), using a custom grind solid flat tappet cam. The cylinder heads are Edelbrock 87 cc aluminum, and the intake an Edelbrock Torker II. A Canton oil pan and pick-up forms the foundation of the lubricating system, and an Evans high performance water pump provides the coolant flow. We will provide more details and photographs of this motor and its build up over the coming weeks.
