Nightfall, Bodie Historical Park, California, 2006

A closer view of one of Bodie’s abandoned homes, incongruously brought to life by the reflected golden glow in its windows. The broken picket fence, no doubt once painted white, bears witness to the relentless effect of time and weather on this ghost town. The California Park system does not repair such damage. They simply do whatever they can to maintain it in its present state.

Don't ever apologize for having a vivid imagination, Ai Li. I am thrilled that this image activates it to the point where you convinced yourself that this place is still a living town. The more vivid your imagination, the more vivid your own images will be, and the more exciting you will find the images of others as well.

Amazing glow. Looking at the logs outside the fence, I felt like a warm fire was being burned and a nice home-cooked meal was being served now. I must be stubborn, not wanting to accept the ghostly state of the town. Sorry, Phil :-)

A perfect image Halloween -- this house does not need jackolanterns in its windows. And yes, all of us shared a wonderful moment of reflected light with this building. It was the highlight of the day in Bodie for me, and probably for you as well, Carol.

It does look as though there is fire inside that building from the orangey glow from the late sun. The fence draws my eye across the entire frame. I like this! We did have a field day with this late shooting of this building, didn't we!
