A group of ENC CA'ers met to hike some trails at a nature preserve in Wake County, NC
Temple Flat Rock is a flat, but sloping in places granitic outcrop. It was named after Louise Parker Temple, a member of the Temple family, who donated the land to the Triangle Land Conservancy in 1984. Because of the care they have given it over the years, it is unusually pristine, never having suffered from vandalism or trash dumping like many of the other outcrops in the area. Owned by Triangle Land Conservancy, Temple Flat Rock contains an unspoiled granitic outcrop, pastures and woodlands. Some of the more interesting plants to be found on the bare rock are mosses, lichens, sandworts, and sedums.
