Dredging

I was down along the Genesee River this afternoon near the yacht club where they were dredging the area around the docks so the boats can get into the slips easier. River silt builds up as it flows out to the lake and it gets somewhat shallow in some of the docks. They are using a crane to dredge and they put the silt on a barge that then goes out into the lake quite a bit offshore and dumps the silt. I believe they have to get approval from the Army Corps of Engineers before they can dredge and it's costly.

This would be a good example of muck for an illustrated dictionary.

Hey, send those guys my way. Seems the city is trying to get out of doing this around my place. ;)

Yep, I'll bet it flowed from Illinois to New York, on it's way to the Atlantic! :-)

Great shot of the clean up.
