Resting In The Shade

After two days of bitter cold, wind and rain, cabin fever set in so I went for a hike with some friends at a county park this afternoon. We had just climbed up a steep hill when we spotted this buck resting in the shade. Worst possible conditions for an image: huffing from climbing a hill, telephoto lens and my subject in the shade. I know it's a bit out of focus but it was the best I could do at this point before he saw/heard us and got up and walked away. All told we saw three deer: two doe and this one buck.

Great find, at least you got a shot before he took off on you.

He's just a young buck too...what a calm scene to witness on what looks to be a lovely afternoon.

A nice thing to spot on a walk! How nice to see such a beautiful creature while walking.
