as a 8yr bridgeman in the australian sugar industry it's great to see that over all bridging technic's have changed little would have loved to have worked on some of these project's in the time they whir constructed

have an old bridge we are relocating on our property. The county shut down a road that crossed our property years ago because we complained so much about people dumping trash into the creek. We are looking for a resource for the wooden slats. We are in Greenville, Hunt County. Thanks Barbara

The bridge over Sandy Fork creek on CR 407,in Gonzales County, Texas is no longer. It was a few years back, that the County Commissioner then Jim Kleso, told me they would close down that section of the CR 407 road to build the new concrete bridge. He asked me if I wanted the little bridge, and if so, they would move it down on my property, to use to cross over a seasonal creek that I have. At the time we were clearing and improving the property with Game fencing. We did not see it to be a project we wanted to take on at that time. Now that I saw the little bridge in your picture and remember the screams we would get driving over it, from the kids and ladies that were in the trucks going to town, I wish it was mine. Also, in the fall, we have yearly hay rides for the family and friends, we would pull them over it and stop to take pictures while on top of it ( if I can find a picture, I will send it to you) during our Oktoberfest party’s. I wish now, I would have made the time to have had this little bridge re-located to my ranch. Enjoyed all the pic’s and remembering the hot riveted, steel bridges that I would get laughed at when I would tell my kids, “look at this bridge, someday it won’t be here! Sincerely, Leonard L. Annie again... that Plemons Bridge is 1/2 mile long and crosses the Canadian River south of the old ghost town of Plemons and north of the old town of Borger.

Beautiful bridges and history.... There is another bridge you should hurry and capture... it is the Plemons Bridge in Hutchinson County, Tx. The roads to it have been blocked and may be due for destruction. Has been there since 1926, Borger boomtown days. My brother once told me that the iron on this bridge came from Germany because there are swastikas stamped on the iron beneath the bridge. It has been resurfaced. Used to be old planks and high trestles. Loved your site....

Thank you for posting our Bridge (Anderson Rd Grayson County) Our Bridge been taken away from us. It is now in a park in Denison Tx and we miss it very much. We are going to be looking at a concrete monster. Ralph Tanner and Daryl Jordan

Thanks for posting these great pics. There's another picturesque iron bridge north of Gause, Tx crossing the Little River that you might want to check. It sits at the end of county road 264 in Milam County and leads to a pasture on the north side.

Love the photos, but where's the Old Iron Bridge in Bastrop. It's Bastrop's claim to fame. Hard to photograph because they built a new bridge at the same level right next to it.

Those are beautiful bridges. How did you learn the history on them? I'm curious because I drive across an old bridge in Martindale (CR103 and Skull Rd., called Skull crossing) all the time. It goes over the San Marcos river. I was just wondering how I could find out the history & how old that bridge is.
