Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library

April Challenge: Scavenger - Rare

Yale's collection of rare books goes as far back as a Gutenberg Bible (circa 1454).
The construction of the building is rare as well. The squares are Vermont Marble
and bordered with Vermont Granite. The marble thickness is 1.25 Inch to let in
enough light for the people without damaging the books. I've only been allowed
inside once and the entire walls have an eerie glow from sunlight through stone.

Interesting information! It would be quite a treasure hunt to be allowed to look through their collection! Nice idea for this challenge. V
