King of the Tyrants

Tyrannus, tyrannus......latin/scientific name meaning King of the tyrants and reserved for the Eastern Kingbird.

Not that large a flycatcher but very aggressive with other birds no matter the size. Extremely territorial and a favourite perch of a resident Kingfisher and green Heron is off limits to them until the Kingbird's babies leave the nest ( in the same tree).

Hi Gary, I just got back from Algonquin Park. I found a LeuciStic Black Capped Chickadee . My research lead me to some of the great shots of yours. I see you have a good collection of King Birds also (one of my favouorite birds to shoot). Have you managed to shoot the King Bird while flashing his aggression patch yet?

Another fantastic gallery Gary. You've captured this fierce bird so well. It's amazing how a bird, for it's size will defend it's nest against squirrels and hawks and others you just wouldn't expect. Fantastic work as is all your photography. Vote :)
