Swainsons Thrush

This bird hit the front wndow of my house on the weekend. I heard it and rushed outside to find it dazed and in distress. I brougt it to the yard and found a perch I though would be wide enough and textured enough for the bird to hang onto. He stayed there for about 20 minutes and occasionaly would fall asleep. When two Bluejays showed up, he took off. I took a few shots with a macro lens and while originally thought a juvie Hermit..the color is all wrong. Its been suggested that this is a Swainsons Thrush.....

The birds often collide with our windows in our Provence garden which permits close ups. They mostly survive and fly away. I really enjoyed your gallery. Peter

Hi and thanks David..Thats great news..A Life bird for me:-) I just wish my front window wasn't the reason I got to see him...I have to ensure this doesn't happen again..

Gary: I have to agree with the rest of the boys and say that this is a juvenile Swainson's Thrush of the Eastern sub species. How's that for specific?
