Auster AOP-3/5, J/1 Autocart. This British made light plane participated in almost all the IAF missions during the 1948 War of Independence.
The Austers carried machine guns, dropped (light) bombs, transported ammunition, and evacuated wounded soldiers.
The Auster had a Hebrew nick name; Primus (a portable Kerosene burner) because of its engine noise.
