Hi Laurie, apologies for the late reply but I just stumbled on your comment today. I am sorry to hear about your cousin Thom. Thank you very much for sharing such interesting information. Shortly after I took photos of this aircraft I had scoured the internet for information about its background. The results were scant. It is rare to hear of background stories such as what is learned from Thom's note - more so especially since his is a firsthand account of the ill-fated aircraft. May Thom be at peace. Best and kind regards. Jack

I believe this is the aircraft mentioned in a note sent from my cousin to my Aunt back in March 2000. The note was sent from Nasuli, Philipines.
"Sunday night, March 26, 2000
Dear Mama,
Have been working on the Aero Commander airplane that skidded off the runway and got all bent up a couple years ago. Have removed both engines and have them ready to ship back to the states."
My cousin, Thom Elkinton, was an engineer who worked for JAARS. While going through my Aunt's old papers, it has been interesting reading about all his work and adventures. Thom passed away a couple of years ago.
