Dallas' White Rock Lake Sustained Damages after Major Rainfall
Areas that feed into the lake had anywhere from 6 1/2 inches to 10 inches over a 36 hour period, pictures were taken about 12 hours after the last rainfall and the lake had gone down over 3 feet. The spillway which dates from 1911 sustained major damage to side support walls.
Areas around the lake were still flooded
Spillway was still 2 ft or so above flood stage, at peak it was about 5 1/2 to 6 ft above flood stage
Ducks were loving the heavy water flow
Retaining wall and grassy area collapsed late Sunday night
Wall shifted out about 2 feet and large area behind it failed.
Doesn't look so bad from this direction, reason that area is being fenced off.
