Built on the site of a ruin church after the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71) by private fund as a thanksgiving for sparing the city.
The bell tower on the right was built in 1852 to replace a steeple of a chapel. It is topped by a golden statue of Virgin Mary sculpted by Joseph-Hugues Fabisch (1812-1886).
