The Church (1720-1732) by Giuseppe Frascari. She is dressed as the bride of Christ.
In her hand are the keys of Heaven, symbolizing the Catholic dogma of "extra ecclesiam nulla salus" (outside the Church there is no salvation).
This is one of four sculptures in the niches on the right (north) side of the portico of St. Peter's Basilica.
All four are sculpted by different artists in the early 18th century. The other three are Faith, Hope and Charity.
