Ms. Nakamoto ran as one of two DPJ candidates for the two seats from Shizuoka Prefecture to the nation’s upper house.
While her incumbent colleague, Fujinomiya, won, this 31-years old rookie lost in the July election as the ruling DPJ suffered a setback.
Although she has no political experience, she has a PhD in engineering and works in an electronic company.
