The Chatham Island Mollymawk Thalassarche eremita which is also known as the Chatham albatross, is one of two albatrosses in the world that is 'critically endangered' on the IUCN Red List. It only breeds on Pyramid Island, a small rock outcrop in the Chatham Islands.

This is one of the three sub species of Shy Mollymawk and was a very rare visitor to Kaikoura. It was our guides third bird spotted in 6 years. It is rarely ever seen away from the Chatham Islands.

This particular bird is probably unwell. It has been eating but hasn't been flying with the others on the Belfast Harbour Reserve.

This Juvenile Blue Heron, photographed just outside Letterfrack Co.Galway, is probably one of the rarest birds ever found in Ireland. It is from the USA and there are only four records of a Blue Heron on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. The other three were in the Azores. On one of the days after it had been identified upto a thousand people came to see it in one day many making trips from England.

Not really sharp but shows some action, unfortunately light pretty poor.

This was the first time I have photographed one of these.

A Peregrine had passed over them and they backed into the Reeds and were all keeping an eye on it.
