Leaving the US mainland off the coast of N. California on my way over to Beijing for a business trip.
A pleasant surprise to what I thought would be 10+ hours of no land in sight.

looks a mere speck, or several specks, in the vast Pacific...still re-assuring perhaps...the flight from Santiago to Easter Island is like that...5 1/2 hours until land hoves into view, and even then it appears very small..

That is a LONG flight to see nothing but water, so I can imagine how excited you were to see this! Great idea to include the plane wing for scale here!
