Stadtkommandantur

Berlin, Germany view map

Or, Bertelsmann Unter den Linden 1, as its more common name. This building just screamed "Germany"
to me when I came across it. Unfortunately, there was significant construction for the subway extension,
so I cropped to avoid the construction clutter. Some history on this building:

"The Berlin Senate hosted an architectural contest in the summer of 1999 for the reconstruction of Berlin’s former
Stadtkommandantur (City Commandant’s Headquarters) at the historic address Unter den Linden 1. Bertelsmann
submitted a design by the Cologne-based architecture firm Thomas van den Valentyn, and won the competition."

Great capture, Sam. The building certainly does represent that Germanic style.

I like it when towns and cities adhere to their traditional style of architecture.

Nicely matches to Berlin's architectural style, very well captured. V

It does look very German. I like it! Interesting background, too.

solid yet so strict in style, perhaps apt for a Commandant's HQ...the flurry of eagles atop the roof does add a certain buoyancy....a finely caught view..
