A Bit of Lightning

Tucson, AZ

This is from a rather large thunder cell that passed west of Tucson.
I would have liked to have gone out west of town but missed the boat
on this one tonight. So I stayed home and shot from afar. I was able
to practice a technique of shooting longer than 30 seconds, using a
remote cable and timer. Now all I need is a decent storm and we'll
see how many different bolts I can capture with a longer exposure.

This shot is actually a merge of two separate 1 minute exposures. And
these were the best bolts that managed to be visible; probably the closest
from the many flashes I saw while watching this very active cell.

Stunning (not a pun) capture. The only clear space into the distance I can see from my apartment is through a gap between two buildings. Ive been trying for years to get a lightning shot there without success. I will keep trying. V
