The color outside is very odd lately with all the fires. This is taken fairly early in the day, but the sun is still a red/pink color filtering through the smoke. I thought the harsh light and a tangle of barbed wire worked well together.

This photo has been bugging me each time I look at it - I've been racking my brain trying to work out what it reminds me of - and I've finally realised: The style makes me think of Gerald Scarfe. He created all the artwork for Pink Floyd's "The Wall" film, amongst other brilliant projects. Well done, Paul, this looks great!

Absolutely fantastic, Paul. I don't think it could've been done better.

What an artistic photograph to come out of such a tragic event. I hope it will soon be over.

Love this shot, Paul. The color of the sun and sky create a "hellish" look completely befitting the razor wire. Terrific job!

Thanks Jeanne and Bruce. And yes, the sun looks very odd since the fires. It's not really exactly THIS color. This is more like sunset. It's actually more pink than this, but it looked bad in the photos, so I adjusted it a bit. But the sun is colored funny most of the day because of it filtering through the smoke.

Very nice shot, Paul. Is the sun filtered by smoke from the fires?
