Looks like I'll be able to learn a lot from you- thanks for your patient explanations. I realized after I wrote that question that you might think I was an utter nutter for not knowing. My camera is simple, big and old- no extended shutter options. But I hope to upgrade to a nicer (smaller with less appetite for batteries) version prior to my departure for Australia in the coming months.
Trisha: A long exposure satisfied the problems with the dark. Leaving the shutter open longer is just like turning the lights up! You'd be surprised at how much light there is when you take an 8 second photo! The screen isn't blurry because it was showing slides as advertisements before the movie started, so there is no motion on the screen. And no, that's not Michael Jackson, though I do see the resemblance!

lol, I haven't seen a movie in forever. Is that part of Michael Jackson's head? Novice here but how did you take this picture in the dark? Maybe if I start asking, I will learn something!
