Greetings Baba Nash. Very nice work. I used to be a photographer and still take amateur pics. Am also a "Rail" on the Union Pacific in Chicago and friend of your nephew Jason. Thanks for sharing your work.

I think I like the surreal effect from the hot clear diesel exhaust the best on CP 9532.
All very nice shots!

The large metal "shield" are there to help the smoke rise above the locomotive.

I enjoyed your China RR Steam gallery very much. I am curious what the large shields on the sides of the engine are for?

Paul, the China shots are phenomenal; lighting, composition, and the ACTION! WOW! You should publish an article on the trip.

Paul, I think that you have just completed the trip of a lifetime in which you were able to retreat 60 years and still come back to today. I don't believe that this trip can be repeated a year from now.

The photos posted are great and I especially like the back lighted viaduct shot.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

What photos, Paul! Please don't tell me that those well-maintained engines have chime whistles and figure-8 Mars signal lights. Travel agent. We need a travel agent, now. Beautiful camera work, old friend.
