Attawapiskat

Attawapiskat is a remote Cree community on the eastern shore of James Bay in Northern Ontario.
I have posted a few old pictures scanned from prints taken in the 1980s and 1990s, probably taken with a disposable camera.

While working there cross county skied to Gabe's Goose camp many time. Wonderful people

I worked at the hospital in 1986,1987. Would not exchange the experience for anything.

My father worked there for a while 50 or more years ago for the Hudson Bay Company. He is in his 70's now. Hope to visit in the nex year or two...especially now there is an airfield there. Wonder if any of the older folks will remember my father Fred Paisnel

I love Attawapiskat! I visited for a week on a school trip back in 1983. I was in Grade 8 and we stayed in the library at the school. We also went on an ice fishing trip, I sang in the church, bought lots of stuff at the Hudson's Bay company and made some friends. It was an exchange program and the students got to come to Toronto (Brampton) to visit and stay with us. I hope to go back and visit someday:)

Hi, to everyone I met in Attawapiskat.
This is a great initiative.
I have worked in Attawapiskat from 1992 to 1995 as a nurse.
While I stayed there I did some exploration in the area by boat and skidoo. It's beautiful! The river is fantastic and big.
Be carefull of the tide.
