The ruins of the ancient Roman structures that surrounded Aquae Sulis are remarkably well-preserved. The Roman Bath museum does an excellent job of putting the ruins in their original context. In this image, the remains of the exterior wall to the temple can be seen. The doorway frames the ancient step that constituted the entrance, worn to a concave shape by heavy use during Roman times.
