Lol, let me correct my mispronounciation on my first comment, dont mind that, beginner in writing at the time. I go by the name of Elvielynn Salas, and I know a lot about this white cross on the island of Tinian, considering I'm from there and all. My father Elvin Masga possibly could have been one of the men to get hurt, however I am really thankful he isn't, not that it's a good thing. However, I did a school project about this during my freshmen year of high school, and got a perfect A on it. One of the men who got lost at sea was a nino of one of my sister. It all came back to me now, I was five at the time yeat I still have portions of this memory I can't forget. Seeing the sadness and fear in my fathers eyes that night, while we were waiting his crew mates by the dock on the island of tinian, gave me the fright within me. I learned that these men were loyal and well known in the island for tinian, lost at sea, and will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN...
i wrote about this for a school essay, and made a power point about it too. It made almost every one cry. I am Elvielynn Masga, from the island of Tinian, I grew up there as well, although I moved here to the island of Saipan 2 years ago, still young, but old enoguh to understand and comprehend. I am 15, and I know about this situation because my da, Elvin Masga went with all of them that day, and we were waiting for them at the doc of Tinain. My mom didnt want my dad to follow them by boat, cause the waters was rough, so we went down with the airplane. I was about 5 years old. It was getting dark, and we noticed that they were'nt comming. The next day, thats when the news came, that we lost them. Evey one was sad. One of those men was the nino (god father) of my little sister. It's such a memory up to now, my dad is still hurt deeply to lose a friend, and my little sister didn't even get the chance to meet her god father, she was just 4 at the time. I will never forget that. Post up more pictures, and information, when I wrote about this, people were interested, and are willing to hear more.
