This was The Concourse Center of Israel, the synagogue my family and I went to in the 1960s when we lived on Walton Avenue;
it was beautiful inside. I attended the Talmud Torah Hebrew School in the building next door. The rabbi's name at that time was Rabbi Morris Berman.

I attended this church many years ago. Love Gospel Assembly the Pastor was Pastor Gerald Kaufman. His father was a rabbi. Pastor Jerry as he was called, had a heart for the people in the Bronx especially for those who were hurting and suffering. It is a beautiful building. I loved my church and my pastor. I know the current pastor and the members are congregating temporarily elsewhere in the Bronx until they are able to begin repairing the church again.

The Mount Eden Center was demolished in 2006 after having been abandoned for a quarter century after Rabbi Hollander refused to permit it to be sold.

That was the Concourse Center of Israel, the shul my family belonged to up through 1967 when we moved to New Jersey.

it's a shame when the building caught on fire still hasn't been repaired. so many homeless ppl used to depend on that place for lunch.

It had a fire in late July 2010. Now the old shul sign is mostly visible.

This large building, on the Grand Concourse near 183rd Street, was formerly the Concourse Center of Israel, an Orthodox synagogue until sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

WOW! This looks like it might have been Mount Eden Center where I wne to Hebrew School in the 50's. It was a huge shul with a very stern Rabbai at the helm, named Rabbai Hollander. Do you know where this buliding is located?
