These pictures of the Bronx are great and bring back fun memories. I lived at 1479 Cromwell Ave. and my dad and uncles had a business at 873 Brook Ave. My grandfather lived at on the Grand Concourse. I attended PS 64 on Walton and Townsend and loved eating out with my friends at the corner were we ordered black cows, the most delicious chocolate milk ever. I remember walking on Macombs Rd. as a very young girl and the freedom of being able to walk anywhere without being afraid. I moved in 1955 to Bayside, Queens which was a big step up for my family whose objective was to "escape the Bronx".
