1706 Selwyn Avenue and hispanic restaurant on the corner(restaurant sold many times and many several different names). Prior to this it was a Candy/Luncheonette, but sold and the man now owns the small liquor store next door. On 174th Street there are many small stores, including a barber shop, 2 bodagas, chinese take out, Excellent taxi service and would you believe the Asencio Rosseff Pharmacy which has been there for over 70 plus years (at 174th Steet and Morris Avenue). Prior 1955 and the building of the Cross Bronx Expressway, across from Selwyn Avenue was a indoor but open marketplace with many vendors. I recall the live chicken place and of course the pickle guy who would give us a nice sized pickle for 5-10 cents.

and there is the excellent restaurant, which had the nicest spanish lady to make me a coffee before I got on the D train. I miss that so much! a stong spanish coffee made on an espresso machine, served up in one of those typical blue cups with "coffee" written on it in 20 different languages. I think there was also the excellent taxi next door, the chinito- which was like a chineese pick up window -then the little store, the jamacian place, oh the memories are so good seeing this!!!
