I lived at 1044 Ave St John in the 1950's. My dad used sing in a choir on Grand concourse Fordam Rd. and Arthur ave. church of Immaculate Mary.Many memories.I still have friends who liveon Jerome Ave

There used to be a bar there, almost opposite the A&P, that we had to pass. It always spoooked me -- the smell of stale beer, dark inside. I lived on Townsend Ave between 174th & 175th St.

My Mom and I used to take the bus from Popham Ave.to 170th Street and Jerome to do some shopping. When I worked in NYC I'd take the IRT into the city!
