A celebration of a small part of Kingston's music scene. The mission, to raise funds for the Joe Chithalen Musical Instrument Lending Library (The M.I.L.L.)& the Partner's in Mission Food Bank.
The M.I.L.L. was founded by the late Wally High in memory of Kingston musician Joe Chithalen, The M.I.L.L. has loaned more than 2000 instruments to aspiring local musicians since its inception. Many famous artists have donated time, money, talent and instruments to Joe's M.I.L.L. Anyone can borrow an instrument - for free.

We did it! The 2012 HomeGrown Live Music Festival reached our “unofficial goal” and raised over $11,000 and collected over 400 food donations. The combined efforts of the venue coordinators, dozens of bracelet sales volunteers, talented sound crews and technicians, stage managers and 335 volunteer musicians put on an awesome show. It was a wonderful expression of Kingston ’s creatively rich and talented community which entertained an audience of close to 1500 people. The donations will allow Joe’s MILL to help keep that creative fire alive and provide much need support to the Food Bank.. Thanks to all the volunteers, the supporting venues, Kingston Downtown Business Improvement Area, Kingston Sound Works, Kingston Whig-Standard, Kingstonist, HC Concepts, Lila Centre, Michael Parkinson, and the Fixer. Joe is smiling.
