The green sign, "Menudo, fresco y barato" refers to tripes and other offal meats, "cheap and fresh", used primarily to make the spicy soup or stew, menudo. It is a popular breakfast food, as well as a famed cure for "La Cruda", or a hangover.

"Se venden canarios" means not that canaries are sold for consumption, but that someone in the shop has some canaries to sell as pets. I felt it necessary to clarify that.

"Carnitas" are little meats, in which large cuts of fresh pig are slowly rendered down to crispy, succulent goodness, and sold by the taco, the torta, the plate or by weight, "to go".
