Last Photo Shoot in Zambia

These pictures were taken for the Copperbelt Environment Project in various towns and villages in Zambia's northern mining region. The CEP is collecting baseline data at the start of an effort to clean up years of degradation by unchecked, unregulated copper and lead mining.

I was born in Nkana hospital in 1971 and lived in Maxwell Street as well as Phillip Street up to 1975 when I moved to the UK. My father worked at the mine. Like to hear from anyone who knew Roger and Jenny Putt.

I lived in kalulushi from '69 - '73. My father was john brown he started work at chibaluma mine and ended at chambishi open pit. My mother was avril brown she worked in the village hospital but succumbex to cancer in kitwe hospital in '72. Im jackie kelloway (nee brown) we lived in nehru road. Hi I lived in Kitwe from 1972 till 1981, I went to Kitwe Primary till 75 then boarding school in Edinburgh. Love your photo's and still think about the good times I had growing up there. Would love to hear from anyone who was there at that time. Jim

Great Photos, I was in Kitwe Zambia From 1967 until 1972, with my late husband Colin Maher. I will always treasure the happy memories we had together there. Maybe there is someone who remembers us would love to hear from them.

Hi all, my family and I lived in Kabwe and Kitwe from 1969 - 1977, my dad worked for Turnpan in Kitwe and my mom worked for Amlew(if thats how you spell it??). Both my folks have passed on now, but if anyone remembers Brian and Claudia Day and their famous sundowner parties on Freedom Avenue in Kitwe... I am their youngest, Viv and my sister is Christeen. Thanks for the photos, they're great!!

Lovely to see pictures. I lived in Kitwe from 72-75. My father was working with Balfour Beatty at Chibaluma. My sister and I were at Alexander McNeil (Chavuma) Primary. Lovely site. Such nice memories. My father, Henk Klumper worked at Chibuluma Mines for many years until he retired in the then Rhodesia. I worked in various towns in N.Rhodesia/Zambia in the bank, but visited Kalulushi many, many times!

Very nice pictures! I lived there from 1979 - 1992. I also lived in kalulushi... i lived there from 1953 to 1965. my father was the resident engineer and stayed at 1 storke drive.drives back many many happy memories.

Hi Pamela, fantastic pictures, invoking memories of my childhood in the Copperbelt. I lived in Kalulushi from 1967 to 1979 and have wonderful memories. It would be nice to see pictures you may have of Kalulushi, especially Chibuluma Trust School. Keep up the good work. Take care Jonathan.
