THE CITY OF BURNIE NW TASMANIA

Burnie, settled in the 1830's and the fourth largest city in the state at pop. 22,500. We have one of the best deep water ports in Australia right here on Emu Bay. This was the home of one of Australia's largest and earliest pastoral companies, The Van Deimen's Land Company which owned pastoral holdings covering a third of the state. Burnie has grown into a great cosmopolitan place to live with a very mild climate on the bay.
