This is interesting. These stickers designate the country a vehicle is licensed from. However, this sticker above indicates Austria. What makes that interesting is that Americans are the only people who call this country, Austria. To everyone else, it is Osterreich. (Eastern Empire)

Gols, Osterreich

I'm not sure when this was made or why. It shows a very old picture of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gols, the outside as well as in. It also shows Georg Portschy u his frau, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. It was donated for use in the publication, "Our Portsche Ties", by our cousin, Colleen.

This is the pulpit from the church in Gols, Austria, where my Portschy's come from. My great great grandparents; Georg Portschy und his frau, Rosina [Kopplinger] Portschy, left Gols in May of 1875. They landed a little over a month later in Kramer, Lancaster, Nebraska, just south of Lincoln. My Portsche's have been there ever since.

This is the German Lutheran Evangelical Cemetery that sits next to the old church in Kramer. Many of my Austrian kinfolk lie inside these gates.

Above we can see a scan of a photograph taken of, Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 724 South 12th street, in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Portsche's have been attending this church since 1900, and continue to do so today. Above is the first building. I believe there have been three in total.

From about 1904 through to 1922, the old frame church was used as a school house. My own Oma, Vivian Hazel Portsche attended school here as a young girl.

Trinity Lutheran Kirche, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. The Portschy family has been attending this church since they came to Lincoln from Kramer, around 1896. This is the church building as it appeared ca 1900.

This is how the modern Trinity Lutheran Church looks today. The present building, I believe, was erected around 1958. To my knowledge, there have been three church buildings for Trinity Lutheran.

Matthias Portschy was a 2nd great grandson to Johann (Hans) Portschy, father to Georg Portschy & my own 3rd great maternal grandfather. He was eldest of seven children born to Paul Portschy u his frau, Anna Herzog. On 19 November 1849 in Gols Hungaria, he married Elisabeta Fischgradl. Together this couple would have eight children. He & his family migrated to Lancaster County Nebraska in May of 1875, settling in Kramer. Matthias Portschy died in Kramer, 22 March 1880 & is buried in the German Lutheran Evangelical Cemetery, beside the old Kirche in Kramer.

Elisabet Fishgradl was a great granddaughter of Gregor Fischgradl, mother to Georg Portschy & my own 3rd great maternal grandmother. After her husband did in 1880, Elisabet married Lorenz Limbeck, on 19 February 1884 in Kramer. They moved a few miles east to Crete where she died 22 October 1914. Elisabeta is buried in Crete next to her husband. This picture is a cropped image of one she took with her daughters, explained later on this page.

My direct ancestor in this shot is standing to the far left, Paul Portsche; one of my maternal great grandfathers. By all acounts, he was a real prick. However, he belongs to me and mine, so there it is. His daughter, Vivian Hazel, was my maternal grandmother. She on the other hand, was as sweet as they come. Not a Saint mind you, but damned close.

This picture was taken in Antelope Park, Lincoln, Lancatser County Nebraska, in June of 1921. The original photograph was donated for use in the publication, "Our Portsche Ties", written by Richard Mann, in May of 1994, by Charlotte Martha [LARGE] Wooters. Her family in is possession of the original to date.

Translated means: "My loving wife died January 14, 1922. She was 69 yrs & 3 months & a few days old. She was born Rosina Köpplinger in Gols Austria. We are living in America 53 years and Lincoln Nebraska 27 years. My son Johann was died 19 July 1928".

As printed in the Lincoln paper. Georg Portschy, as he was Baptized in Gols Hungaria, came to the United States in May of 1975. He migrated with his parents, his wife, & their son. The had & reared thirteen children into adulthood; what a legacy indeed. There was at least one child living of Georg & Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy in Lincoln Nebraska for one hundred and seven years.

Shown above is the obituary printed for, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy, as it appeared in the Lincoln Newspaper, 15 December 1922, on page two. She was the mother of thirteen, and the reason my own daughter has "Rosina" in her name.

Here is the grave stone of my 2nd great grandparents, Georg u Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy.

The German inscription reads as follows:

"Good night, children; your souls are by me to God
surrendered; take care for your soul in thought
and deed, that you mnight live with me in glory,
in the most beautiful joy in Heaven".

Shown above is the obituary printed for Matthias Portsche, as it appeared in the Lincoln Newspaper, 20 March 1939. Matthias Portsche was the eldest child of thirteen born to Georg Portschy and his wife, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portsche. On 10 May 1896, in Lincoln, he married, Maria Wurm. Maria was an elder sister to, Susanna [WURM] Portsche, wife of Matthias' brother, Lorenz.

Matthias was the 1st of thirteen children born to Georg u Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. He was born in Gols Hungary & brought to America while still an infant. He married Maria Wurm in 1896 and together this couple had one child.

Shown above are George Portsche Jr., and his wife, Adelaide Belle [EDWARDS] Hinkle, Portsche. George was the 2nd child and the 2nd son born to, Georg Portschy Sr., and his wife, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy. On 21 January 1901 George married Adelaide Belle [EDWARDS] Hinkle. Together they would rear her son from a previous marriage, Harold M. Hinkle.

George was the 2nd child of thirteen bornb to George u Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. He married Adalaide Belle Edwards & adopted her son, Harold Hinkle.

Wife of George Portsche Jr.

Shown above is Lorenz Portsche, as a young man. He was the third child, and the third son born to George Portschy Sr., and his wife, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy. on 15 September 1904 he married, Susanna Wurm. Together this couple would share eleven children, eight of whom would survive into adulthood.

Susanna was the 8th child of 11 born to, Johann Wurm und his frau, Susanna [KRUTZLER] Wurm. She married, Lorenz Portsche and together they shared eleven children, eight of whom grew to adulthood.

Lorenz Portsche was the 3rd of thirteen children born to Georg u Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. He married Susanna Wurm in 1904. Together this couple would have 10 children, seven surviving.

Wife of Lorenz Portsche

Susie was the third child of eleven born to Lorenz Portsche & his wife, Maria Wurm. She married James Robert Ledbetter & together this couple would have three children.

Marie was the eldest of eleven children born to Lorenz Portsche & his wife, Maria Wurm. She spent her entire adult life working for Lincoln Telegraph & Telephone. She never married & had no children. She was the eldest Portsche for some time & after her passing, the Portsche reunions that had lasted almost 100 years, faded away into memory.

1905-2005

Theresia Rosina Portsche was the fifth child of thirteen born to Georg Portschy u his frau, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. On 22 May 1899 in Lincoln she married Adam Andreas Rumpeltes II. Together this couple would have six children.

Shown above is the obituary for Theresia Rosina [PORTSCHE] Rumpeltes, as it appeared in the Lincoln newspaper, 30 July 1963. Theresia was the 4th child of 11 and the eldest daughter born to, Georg Portschy and his wife, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy. In Lincoln on 22 May 1899 she married, Adam Andrew Rumpeltes. Together this couple would share six children.

Adam & Theresia Rosina [PORTSCHE] Rumpeltes had six children, shown above.

Helen Marie Rumpeltes was the eldest of six children born to Adam Andreas Rumpeltes & his wife, Theresia Rosina Portsche. On 23 Nov 1918 in Lincoln Nebraska she married John Lawrence Warner. Together this couple would have six children.

"Annie" was the 5th child of 13 and the 2nd girl to be born to, Georg Portschy and his wife, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy, in Kramer, Lancaster, NE on 12 March 1882. On 18 May 1898 in Lincoln, Lancaster, NE, she married, Herman Bernard Miller. Together this couple would share three children; two of whom would grow to adulthood. Shown above is Annie's own family. L to R we see: Dorothy Ruth Miller, Anna Maria (Annie) [POTSCHE] Miller, Herman Bernard Miller, and, Hilda Maria Theresia Miller.

Anna Maria Portsche was the sixth of thirteen children born to Georg Portschy u his frau Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. She married Herman Bernard Miller in Lincoln Nebraska on 18 May 1898. Together this couple would have three children.

Hilda Maria Theresia Miller was the eldest of three children, born to Herman Miller and his wife, Anna Maria [PORTSCHE] Miller. She was born in Lincoln, Lancaster County Nebraska, on 24 September 1898. On 28 February 1923, in Lincoln, Lancaster County Nebraska, she married, Floyd Elmer McCarty. Together this couple shared four children. Hilda passed away in Falls City, Richardson County Nebraska, on, 08 October 1967. She’s buried in Steele Cemetery, Falls City, Richardson County, Nebraska.

Floyd Elmer McCarty was born on, 19 January 1898, in Johnson, Johnson County Nebraska. On 28 February 1923, in Lincoln, Lancaster County Nebraska, he married, Hilda Maria Theresia Miller. Together this couple shared four children. Floyd passed away in Falls City, Richardson County Nebraska, on, 24 December 1974. He’s buried in Steele Cemetery, Falls City, Richardson County, Nebraska.

Mildred Anne McCarty was the third of four children, and the youngest daughter born to, Floyd Elmer McCarty and his wife, Hilda Maria Theresia [MILLER] McCarty. She was born on, 28 February 1929, in Falls City, Richardson County Nebraska. She spent her entire life in Nebraska, passing away in Falls City, Richardson County Nebraska, on, 19 November 2007. She’s buried in Steele Cemetery, Falls City, Richardson County, Nebraska, next to her parents.

Johann Portsche was the tenth of thirteen children born to Georg Portschy u his frau, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. He married Gwendolyn Mehaffie on 25 October 1924. Shown here is his wedding photograph. John would later die in an automobile accident in South Dakota while on holiday with his wife.

On 26 February 1914 in Lincoln, Lancatser, NE, he married, Fern Carrie Stanley. Together this couple would share five children.

Paul was the eleventh child of thirteen born to Georg Portschy u his frau, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. He married first, Zerna Hazel Batten. Together this couple would have three children. He married second to Margaret Ullila McCarthy. Together this couple would have two children. Paul is buried with his second wife Ullila [McCarthy] Portsche in Lincoln Memorial Park, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Paul & his first wife, Zerna Hazel [Batten] Portsche are a set of my own great maternal grandparents.

I found this article in the Crete newspaper one day whilst doing research in the Nebraska State Historial Library, in Lincoln. It was printed in the Crete News, 11 May 1911 and describes most of Paul's descendants for the last one hundred years or so. When I first read this article, I laughed out loud, right there in the library.

Paul Portsche Jr. was the eldest of three children born to Paul Portsche u his frau, Zerna Hazel [Batten] Portsche. He married Virginia Liberty League & together this couple would share two children. Paul is buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska.

Harold Arthur Portsche was the youngest child of three born to Paul Portsche Sr & his wife, Zerna Hazel [Batten] Portsche. Shown above is Harold with his only daughter, Theresa Ann Portsche.

Herr Mann travels back to the land from whence his own came. This was taken in Mondsee Austria, just a few miles from where my great great grandparents came in 1875.

Paul Portsche Sr spent a lifetime working for the railroad. He was also a tinkering artist & shown above is one of his cartoons. This was done on a simple napkin & the original is ownewd by his granddaughter, Kim [Portsche] Northrip.

Rex LaVern Portsche 1928-2006 was the youngest of two children born to Paul Portsche Sr & his wife, Margaret Ullila [Mccarthy] Portsche. Rex married first Carol Joyce Williams & shared six children with her. Later he married Janice Eileen Hughes. This couple had no children together.

Katharina Susanna Portsche: 1894-1982, was the twelfth of thirteen children born to Georg Portschy u his frau, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. She married Harold Cook.

Susie Portsche was the 6th daughter and the youngest child of thirteen, to have been born to, Georg Portschy und his frau, Rosina [KÖPPLINGER] Portschy, in Kramer, Lancaster, Nebraska, on 08 April 1897. On 21 Mar 1925 in Council Bluff, Pottawatamie, IA, she married, Samuel William Large. Together, this couple would share four children, three of whom lived into adulthood. Samuel Large also had four boys from a previous marriage. Susie died in Lincoln, Lancaster, Ne on 23 October 1965.

Dorothy Elizabeth Wahl: 1912-2005, was the eldest of three children born to Lawrence W. Wahl & his wife, Karolina Limbeck. Dorothy married Sherman Homer Vorce: 1905-1969, & together this couple would have three children of their own.

Katharina Köpplinger was the youngest of ten children born to Andreas Köpplinger u his frau, Katharina Györik. She married Matthias Portschy & together this couple would have three children. She died in 1881 after giving birth to their third child. Katharina was alos a younger sister to my 2nd great maternal grand mother, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy. Katharina [Köpplinger] Portschy, is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska.

Matthias Portschy: 1854-1933, was the third child of eight born to Matthias Portschy u his frau, Elisabet Fischgradl. He married three times, the second being to Katharina Stiegelmeir. With her he would share nine children. Katharina Stiegelmeir: 1861-1917 was mother to nine children with Matthias. Both are buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska.

Matthias Portsche: 1854-1933 Matthias was the third of eight children born to Matthias Portschy u his frau, Elisabet Fischgradl. He married first, Katharina Kopplinger. Together this couple would have three children, one of whom was stillborn. He married second, Katharina Stiegelmeir. This couple would have nine children together. He married third, Elisabet Wurm. This couple woudl share no children. Matthias is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska. Katharina Stiegelmeier: 1861-1917 Katharina was the second wife of Matthias Portsche & the mother of nine of his children.

Edward was the sixth of nine children born to Matthias Portsche u his frau, Katharina Stiegelmeir. He married Maria Hotovec & together this couple had two children. Edward is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska.

John was the eighth child of nine born to Matthias Portsche & Katharina Stiegelmeir. To my knowledge, he never married, nor had any children. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska.

Paul Portschi was the 3rd son and the 4th child born to, Matthias Portschy und his frau, Elisabet [FISCHGRADL] Portschy, in Gols Ungarn, 01 Sep 1856. On 18 March 1886, in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska, he married, Rosina Limbeck.

Paul and his wife are buried in Riverside Cemetery, Crete, Saline County, Nebraska.

Theresia Portschy was the sixth of eight children born to Matthias Portschy u his frau, Elisabet Fischgradl. She married George Hammond Whitacre & together this couple would have three children.

Maria was the youngest of eight children born to Matthias Portschy u his frau, Elisabet Fischgradl. She married Adam Billar & together this couple would have two children.

There are only a few folks I can pick our in this shot. My own great maternal grandfather, Paul Portsche Sr., can be seen sitting two or three people right of dead center. Grace and Stan Portsche can be seen sitting on the far right. Stan is shown enjoying a cigar. What a bunch, man.

Shown above is the Portsceh reunion, 1958. The only people I can pick out in this shot, again, are my great paternal grandfather, Paul Portsche Sr., standing with his arms crossed, a little right of center, and my cousin, Stan Portsche, sqautting on the far right.

Shown above is a shot from the Portsceh family reunion, taken in June of 1972. I can pick out Aunt Katie, sitting just right of the PORTSCHE sign, but that's about it.

Wow. This is a really bad scan of a picture taken of the 1975 Portsche family reunion, held at Antelope Park, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Actually, it's a scan of a copy of a photograph. I can pick out a few folks, including my self, my mother and step dad, but those are about it.

Too many folks in this shot for me to name. My mother, her mother, my aunts and uncles. I'm the dude with the NRA hat on, standing, squinting almost top left.

Herr Györik is a cousin of mine, & is a metal bau, living in Gols Austria. I put this sticker up here because I think it's outstanding. He's a heck of a nice guy.
