Genealogy / PORTSCHY

I've been a genealogist for almost twenty years now. I can trace this line back to my 7th great maternal grandfather, Johann (Hans) Portschy, born in Gols or Golsch Hungaria around 1695. This little village lies about 40km east from Vienna. It was part of Hungaria, then the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Now however, it's located in Austria. My own 2nd great maternal grandfather, Georg Portschy & his wife, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy migrated to Lancaster County Nebraska in 1875, settling in Kramer. There they stayed until 1896, when they moved the 20 miles north to Lincoln. My own daughter, Hazelmarie Alena Rosina, gets part of her name from her 3rd great paternal grandmother, Rosina [Köpplinger] Portschy.

Below you'll find some pictures of my PORTSCHY line. You'll see headstone pictures, as well as scanned photographs of some of my relatives that have since died. I try & shy away from using pictures of living folks without their permission, for obvious reasons. The name originally was spelled PORTSCHY. However as time & distance unfolded it has been recorded & kept as PORTSCHY / PORTSCHI / PORTSCHE;all from the very same family. Many of the descendants of Georg u Rosina have returned to Gols for visits; some of us more than once. These few photographs represent a fraction of what I own.
