Tarina is our beautiful daughter, sister, girlfriend and best friend. Tarina was born at 8:08 PM on Friday August 29, 1980. She passed away at 1:30 AM on Friday February 21, 2003 in a head on automobile accident on State Route 51 at milepost 7.3 just north of Northern Ave in Phoenix Arizona.

From the Saturday 02/22/2003 Mesa Tribune. “A 22-year-old Tempe woman was killed in a head-on collision on State Route 51 about 1:30 AM Friday. Arizona Department of Public Safety officer Steve Volden said Tarina Knapp was traveling north on the freeway when she was struck by a vehicle driven by 83-year-old Phoenix resident Dorotha Thomas, traveling south in the northbound lanes. Tarina died at the scene and Thomas was taken to John C Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, Volden said.”

Tarina volunteered in her community as a blood donor with United Blood Services of Arizona. Tarina is survived by Mom & Dad and stepfather Frank, sister Jeaneen Wiian Knapp and niece Ivoriee Lee Knapp, brother Randy Lewis Knapp, sister Valerie Correll, three stepbrothers and family and many many friends.

Interment at City of Mesa Cemetery 1212 N Center St Mesa Arizona 85201 block 1223 lot 4 grave 1.

As parents, sisters, brothers and best friends we know Tarina is with God but God we wish she were here.

WOW. So I'm sitting here thinking about what ever happened to a girl, I used to know, named Tarina Knapp. I come across this page. I'm thinking to myself, you have to be kidding me. This cannot be right. NO. It isn't. However, it is. There isn't words to describe what I have just seen._____I remember you being 13 and I being 16. We were in Colorado Springs in junior high. We were just kids. You told me to never forget you and I haven't. It has been a long time and although I have grown up, I don't forget the times we had. I am sure you are still as silly as when I remember you at 13. Your friends look awesome, you have a supporting family, and I am sure you had a great time being yourself. WOW____ still speechless. You know, there is probably nothing I can say at this point than saying I wish I could have a smile and a laugh with you at this time. I'm guessing that I will have to wait until another date and time to do so. Keep your head up and don't let anything stop you. We, as friends,family,and mier distant acquaintances will remember you and keep you in our hearts. Your awesome and I am keeping my promise. When I say I feel your pain, I do not say it in the manner of a certain disingenuous former President. My daughter, Kimberly Rochelle Moss, was killed on September 4th, 1998, at 9:07 PM while walking along an unlit country road in Grand Rapids, MI. She was struck from behind by a van and was killed instantly. She is 22 years old forever. Your beautiful tribute to Tarina brought a flood of memories crashing down on my head this Christmas Day. I will never get over Kimberly's being gone. I will always miss her. There is no "closure," a word the media likes to bandy about so frivolously. Life goes on, and you go on, but there is no end to the grief. Sometimes it sneaks up on you and taps you on the shoulder. Sometimes it hits you like a tsunami. Each of us finds our own way of dealing with it. May God give you strength and peace in the days to come. Thank you for sharing your Tarina with us.

I finally got the oppertunity to visit with you Tarina. It took almost two years to build up the courage to go and see you and I fanally did! you pay visits to my sister on a regular basis...yes. amy is my sister. she died way too young, as did your daughter. however she did lead a full life. she was an astounding person, and i appreciate that you visit her...sometimes i get to wrapped up in my life to visit her as often as i should. so i just wanted to say thank you. i feel your loss, and i know that your daughter - and my sister - are with god now.

I haven't written to you in a long time and I am sorry for that, but I still talk to you everyday and I still visit you quite often. I cannot tell you how much I miss having you around me to talk to and hang out with. Although we didn't live together longer then a year I still cherish every moment we spent together. I remember your laugh, your smile, your beautiful brown eyes, and the way your room looked that day when you left for work. I remember the last words we said to each other as you went on your way on that tragic night. I will never forget the way you looked at me, smiled and said you would call me the next day. Little did I know that you wouldn't be calling me ever again. I called your cell phone a few times and you didn't answer, and that was not like you. We couldn't go a day without talking 3 or 4 times about anything and everything. I feel so lucky to have spent your last night dancing, laughing, and being around you. You were so happy that night and I know for a fact that you are sad that you can't be here to comfort your friends and family but I know that you are smiling down on us. When my Grandpa passed away last month, I was holding his hand while his heart slowly stopped and I asked him to take good care of you. I also asked him to give you a hug for me since I am not there to do it myself. I know it has been over a year since we last saw each other but I want you to know how much I think about you. The smallest things in my every day life remind me of you. Remember how we would go out at night and then come home and play Uno? People thought we were crazy but we didn't care because we had so much fun doing it. Or how about last Christmas when we went and picked out or own Christmas tree? We could barely get it up the stairs let alone into the tree stand. I remember starting Chili's at the same time as you. We went through training together, turned 21 together, and had some really fun and memorable experiences there. You have made such an impact on my life Tarina. I thank God everyday that you and I had the chance to work together, live together, and build a strong friendship. You have taught me to live life to fullest and never give up on anything. It's amazing how much I learned from you in the 2 years that we were friends. You were truly a wonderful person. I keep telling myself that we will see each other again some day, but that day wont come soon enough. Thank you for all the memories and good times. I will never forget how valuable you were in my life. I miss you so much and I hope you are looking down on me smiling. Thank you for being my own personal angel! I love you girl!

Tarina-Unbelievably enough a full year has already passed. I miss you so very much! February 21st was tough to accept for what it was. I thought about you all day! They say you never know what you have until its gone. You epitomize that expression! I never had a chance to say good-bye and that haunts me every single day. I don’t know when this reality becomes easier to understand, but to this point I still don’t get it. I hate the thought of never being able to see you again, or never being able to talk to you again, or never being able to smile with you again, no matter how bad I want to!!! It is so frustrating to have to think about and accept that incredibly unfair reality! I still don’t want to believe it. I never knew a more beautiful person. This gallery is so touching. This girl must have been so special to have all these people love her so much! When I read this gallery it made me realize how short life is, that forgivness is not only good for your soul, but also good for a happier exsistence. I just recently spoke to a person that I hadn't spoken to in years because of huge falling out between the two of us. Now we talk everday. I can't imagine if she had died and I never got the chance to tell her that I forgive her, where I would be spiritually right now. It has been a while since I lost posted here. I guess I just want to ingnore the fact that you are no longet here on earth. I know that you are still with me I feel you often. I hope you know how much I love you. You still are my very best friend. I was back in AZ. in Nov. and I never even went to see you. I feel horrible about this but to be honest I just could not do it. I don't want to remember you like that. I want all of my memory's to be of you here! I hope that you will forgive me. Tarina there is not a day that goes bye that I don't think of you. I swear even now today you are the best listener. You are still with me!!!

Tarina- Almost one full year has passed and the reality of it all is still so very unbelievable! I miss you so much! There are still no perfect words to describe how much you meant to me, how much I miss you or how much I think about you! I hope that you can see me when I visit you and I hope that you can hear me when I talk to you! I can still picture your beautiful face, those beautiful eyes, and that beautiful smile! I can’t tell you how much this website means to me. I knew Tarina through school and she was a very special girl. After she passed I had gone through the phone book several times looking for her grave with no luck. Now I can finally tell her good bye. Tarina was smart, kind, and beautiful. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

God gives us things and people but only for a little while. He lets us turn these beautiful temples of GOD into a treasure to be stored in heaven and then when he has let us make remarkable people and beautifuls souls of them, then he takes them home for their real purpose, GODs purpose. Tarina is beautiful and think of the angels she is dancing with in heaven and doing it for the ones she left behind.

Love is the only thing that we take to heaven.
Hope this might help sooth the heart.

Tarina- I thought about you so much today but that isn't much different than most days! I miss you so much!!! Visiting you still seems so incredibly surreal. I continue to hope that you are watching down on me and know how much I miss you. I would give the world to have our lives cross paths just one more time. I miss everything that we shared together in such a short time. I miss joking with you, laughing with you, and most of all, just being with you! Our lives coincided perfectly at one time and it absolutely crushes me to know that I will never have another chance to experience that again! That particular feeling of happiness and ease that radiated from your smile, your eyes, your mood, and just your attitude for life. I wish that it didn't take what it did to teach me this, but thanks for showing me how to smile more each and everyday. I've learned that it is good to be a little carefree sometimes no matter what chores and obligations life throws at me. Hi my little Tarine Bean! I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking ot you today! I miss you so much and no matter how hard I try the pain just does not leave my heart. I'm moving onto Base Housing in December and I went through some old boxes and I found a video of us lip singing to baby got back! I honestly think you have the best smile out of any person I have ever seen! You just seemed to light up any room you went to. Tarina I know this is selfish of me but I wan't you back! No person in this world knew me like you did. We were best friends and it's just not fair that you are gone. I bought my ticket to go back home. I will be back Nov 22nd - Dec.6th I'm going to get ahold of your dad and see if he want's to go visit you with me. I love you Tarina and I promice I will never forget you!

As a father of four sons age 25 to 3, I can't imagine losing any of them and a greater loss cannot be imagined for a parent. My thoughts are with you and all others in your situation.

Tarina, Sorry it has taken me so long to write. I am finally all moved into my new apartment. As I was unpacking all of my stuff that has been in storage since your accident I had so many memories brought back to me. My apartment is not the same without you. I miss you being my roommate and my best friend. Every Thursday night I think about you, knowing that Thursday nights were girls night out to Maloney's. It's not the same without you. Tonight I went to the last place you and I saw each other. All I could think about was how lucky I was that I was able to spend your last night here with you. I remember exactly what you were wearing and how you smiled at me when I dropped you off at your car that night. Thank you so much for spending your last night with me. I've gone to visit you many times this last month and I can't tell you how much I smiled on your birthday while I was visiting you. I thought about your birthday last year, we had so much fun dancing. I am so lucky to have had you as a roommate and I hope you know that you will always be in my heart. Your pictures are all over my apartment and anyone that knows me, knows about you. Thank you for being the person you are, you have taught me so much about being thankful for everything in life. I miss you so much but I am to the point where I can't help but smile every time I think about you. Thank you for everything, I truly do miss you here with me.

Tarina- So much time has passed and yet still none of this has become easier to accept. Accepting your fate seems truly impossible. I selfishly feel cheated. Cheated out of that last chance to see you, that last chance to hear your voice, and most importantly, that last chance to say good-bye!!! As a matter of fact, as time passes, accepting this unbelievable reality only seems to get harder. Why do things have to be this way??? WHY ARE YOU MY FRIEND

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. In a specific point of the journey, they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one, who got slapped, was hurt, but without anything to say, he wrote in the sand: "TODAY, MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE". They kept on walking, until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who got slapped and hurt started drowning, and the other friend saved him. When he recovered from the fright, he wrote on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE" The friend who saved and slapped his best friend, asked him, "Why, after I hurt you, you wrote in the sand, and now you write on a stone?" The other friend, smilingly replied:

"When a friend hurts us, we should write it down in the sand, where the winds of forgiveness erase it away. And when something great happens, we should engrave it in the stone of the memory of the heart, where no wind can erase it"

Learn to write in the sand, when you have differences and hurt feelings with your friend. Learn to write in stone when your friend had done some thing really good to you.

Happy B-Day my Tarine Bean! I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts on this very speacial day! I celibrated my b-day on the 25th and the day just did not seem the same with out you. I can still hear your voice and your laugh in my head and I hope that it never goes away! I hope that you had lots of visitors today! I feel so bad that I can't be there! I will be there in December so I promice we will hang out! I still feel you all of the time and I know you are watching down on all of us. I only hope that someday you will be able to explane to me why you left this earth so soon. I just can't help but believe that god took you by accident! Tarina- Half a year has passed and still I mourn. My heart is still filled with anger, regret, disbelief, and sorrow. Hey My Tarina Beana! I just wanted to pop in and say that I love you so much and you are still in my heart everyday! I thaught that things would be easeyer to handle as time has gone bye but its not. The loss of you has put this empty feeling in my heart. I feel you often and I just wish I could reach out and give you one last hug goodbye! My dad said that he went and saw you and that made me happy because I never ever want you to feel alone. There are so many people here on earth that carry you in there heart every day. Tarina, I just wanted to stop in and say that I have not stopped thinking about you. I miss you so much and I wish so much that I could just give you one last hug good bye! I think about the last night I saw you and I wish so much that I would have known that that night was going to mean our true good bye. Although I never met her, I am deeply saddened. Tarina seemed like a true diamond in the rough and one in a million. I am so sorry to learn about your loss. I met Tarina a while ago through Sarah Spielmann. I am so sorry for your loss. The day that she was taken away from you my beautiful twins were being born. I know this is something that doesn't even come close to easing your pain, but it makes me feel better knowing that she is in heaven looking down on them and all of us. Even though I only knew her for a short time, she was very sweet and Sarah and her seemed to be close. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

I believe that we are placed in this life to learn, and to teach. We, as individuals learn,and, in turn,we also teach others a vital lesson. Sometimes the lessons we learn are difficult, painful, almost unbearable lessons that we feel are too much to bear, and, equally, the lessons we teach to others may not feel as though they are fair, and right, for anyone. We then take these lessons onto our next paths, and we learn from our previous mistakes.
I am not, in any way, trying to rock the boat, stir up feelings of contempt, or start up a religious debate, but I am pointing out that the harsh lessons are those of which we gain the greatest knowledge, no matter how painful it is. To all those who knew this young woman: you will all have some aquisition of knowledge, and some great insight to carry on with you for this life, and the next. The scars will eventually fade, but will never be forgotten. Perhaps that is how it is meant to be. My heart goes out to you all.

Dear Tarina,
I guess this is my only way to let you know how much I'm thinking about you. I think about you every day. Not a day goes by that I don't wish you were here living the life with me. I just keep telling myself that one day you and I will be roommates again. I will miss you so much this summer because last summer you and I spent everyday together. We experienced so much and I am thankful for that. You know that BJ is in a coma right now, and I really hope you are looking out for him. I know him and his family are suffering right now but I have faith that you will bring them strength to pull through. I see your friends everywhere I go, and I see people who haven't heard about you. I hesitate to tell them b/c I don't want them to feel the pain that I feel and have felt for 3 months now. Of course I tell them, and watch their expression go from happy to sad. I tell them to think of you as their personal angel that will stand by their side through anything and will bring them strength. I know you are always looking out for me, your friends, and your family and I thank you for that. I hope you are smiling down on all of us b/c we all miss you so much!

Tarina- Nearly three months have passed since that dark, unjust night in February. Still to this day when I try to understand, I only find denial and disbelief! I visit you quite regularly, sometimes with others, many times alone. It is very comforting to sit with you and I feel very close to you when I am there. I only hope that you are looking down on me and can share the moment! Not a day has gone passed in which I have not though of you. Often in the course of my day, whether at work or just driving alone in my car, I will hear a song that was played at your funeral, such as "The Wind Beneath My Wings" or "I Love You Always Forever" and my day will change, sometimes for the rest of the day. Those songs silence me, turn knots in my stomach, and remind me of how very much I truly miss you!!! Tarina, you were such a beautiful girl, a beautiful woman, and a beautiful person. My thoughts and memories of you will never escape me. I love you, I miss you, and I am sorry......Jeremy

Wow! Um.... I dont even realy know where to begin. First of all I want to say that Tarina I'm so sorry for not posting sooner. Its just that Im still in such shock. I dont want to believe any of this is true, I think that I'm still trying not to believe any of this has happened. I wish I could just have one more day. One more day to tell you how much I love you. One more day to tell you what a impact you have made on my life. One more day to tell you how much our friendship ment and to tell you that you are like a sister to me. Tarina- Days added up, weeks went by, and now a full month has passed since you've been gone. I'm sure I speak for many when I say that it isn't any easier today than it was the first day to accept this horrible reality. I still lay in bed at night picturing your beautiful face. You are still the first thing on my mind every morning when I wake up. Part of me still believes that this CAN'T be true! Although we were out of touch, I always knew in my heart that you were still within reach. That is no longer the case. Again, this is NOT fair. I've met your father. He is a marvelous man. I wish the two of you had more time to spend together. I've visited your grave several times and it never seems real. Did you get my rose??? Do you hear my prayers??? Tarina clearly must have been a joy to you and her memory will live with you always. My 21 year old son, Jeffrey, was killed in a flying accident back in 1989, and I have been in that dark and sad place. It took me years of recalling every event and image of our live together before I could come to terms with the huge hole in my heart. I hope you find peace and comfort some day.

Very sad to hear about the loss of a young life. This also begs the question of whether this 83 year old driver was fit to be on the road in the first place. When was the last time she was tested for her driving abilities?

Tarina- Since you have gone, I have driven past your old house, attended your visitation, your funeral, spoken to your best friend, collected pictures of you, driven Northbound on the 51 just south of Northern, had a drink at Houston's and much, much more and yet I still can't believe it!!! These actions of mine are supposed to comfort me, console me, and bring you back to me but that just isn’t happening. Remember how you were me and I was you??? This is NOT how it is supposed to be! This is not fair!! I can not fathom you being gone. I will miss you forever!!! My mind is left in disbelief, my heart crushed by sorrow, my stomach churns with regret. I yearn so selfishly for that last conversation we never had! My only consolable hope is that you can see me now and know that I am thinking of you!!!!!!! Tarina was so beautiful, genuine, independent, strong, loving, and all around a great person. She was my roommate for 8 months, although we have known each other for over 2 years. She would come home and be so excited to tell me about her day or anything exciting that had happened to her. She was always so happy and high on life. I really miss her coming home and walking through the door with her beautiful smile. I miss her friendship and I miss her laugh. She will always be in my heart.
