The Kombu player of the Chenda Kerala group announcing the daily evening procession of the Chithirai Meenakshi Festival.
Kombu means horn in Malayalam and is a 4 feet long C-shaped trumpet made of 3 brass/copper tubes fitting into one another. The kombu has no holes or keys so can only play 3 notes. There are two kind of kombus, the big one or timiri and the bari, small one.
