Milking

Madurai

After bringing the cows back home, they are milked by the farmer, here in the village of Thirupallai under a sun protecting shed. A very pleasant village to be, no foreigners passing here, still a true warm hospitality to enjoy.

Remarkable, so many cows here but I never heard anything of the 'mad cow disease'. Cows are elevated here only for the milk and produces more yield as such then eating them. They don't feed the bones as processed food again to the stock.

Many times I asked why are cows seen as holy in India, where to find the origin of this believe ?
One of the stories claims that when the Aryans invaded India they brought along a tremendous stock of cows. To protect them they bribed the Brahman priest to tell the local people that they were holy. Maybe true, maybe not ?

Lately the black and white cows were imported from the Netherlands to improve the production of the milk, only one problem, they are more aggressive then the original Indian brown cows.
