I decided to make a garden to help supplement my food supply. The dirt in this area was very sandy and rocky, so it wasn’t the best for gardening. I was on a pretty strict budget, so I gathered as much organic matter as I could from around the desert and then bought some regular potting soil from a nursery. To help cut down on costs, I only used the potting soil in the areas where I planted the seeds. This gave the seeds good fertile soil to take root in and also left lots of room for their roots to grow out as well.
