I got stuck up in the mountains for a few weeks in the snow and ended up getting frostbite on a couple of fingers and toes, so I decided that it was time to head back south to Slab City. Since I didn’t have an RV or a canopy for shade this time (important in the desert sun), I spent a little time looking around for nice shady tree to camp next to. Unfortunately, large shady trees in the desert (especially at Slab City), can be a bit difficult to find sometimes.
